Robbie Keane believes Monday night's dramatic encounter with Aston Villa
perfectly illustrated the the ups and downs football can provide.
An early
lead turned into a 4-1 deficit and the 125 anniversary celebrations looked like
going very flat, but a Pascal Chimbonda goal on 68 minutes offered a lifeline,
Robbie's penalty just over ten minutes later gave us hope before Younes Kaboul
sent the stadium into raptures with his stoppage time leveller. It really was a
point snatched from the jaws of defeat. "It was unbelievable, the ups and downs
in football have been on show here - one minute you are down and buried and the
next you are on a massive high," reacted Robbie after the game. "To come back
from 4-1 down showed a lot of character and full credit to the lads. We are
delighted to get a point after being so far behind and it feels like a victory
to us. "We have to look at the goals we are conceding and cut the mistakes out.
I don't mean individual mistakes, as a team we can't keep letting goals in and
we need to defend as a unit. To let in four goals at home is not something we
have done in a long time and we need to concentrate on that. "We are happy to to
get a point though considering we looked dead and buried at one stage."
